Current needs include the following:
- Career Closet
- Volunteers are needed every day of the week to help with our Career Closet. Our Career Closet provides appropriate clothing for residents when interviewing for jobs and once they are employed. Volunteers sort through clothing donations to determine what is acceptable for the Career Closet and which clothing can be distributed to the public when they come to us for Bagged Lunches.
- Pantry
- Pantry Bag Distribution: Shifts available 11am-2pm Monday through Friday. Volunteers will process and distribute pantry bags using a new and easy computer system. You will be trained “on the job” by our new Kitchen Manager, Ginger Hardin.
- Food Bank Pick-Up: Once each month, 9am-Noon. Volunteers will pick up food from the Food Bank, deliver to the shelter and help to organize. Access to a large vehicle would be helpful.
- Kitchen/Pantry
- Kitchen/Pantry Helper: Shifts available on weekends from 9am-2pm. Volunteer will act as “point person” for the kitchen, processing deliveries, dating food donations, organizing the pantry and helping to coordinate other kitchen and pantry volunteers.
- Kitchen Assistant: Shifts available 1pm-4pm Monday through Friday. Volunteers will assist our Kitchen Manager with tasks such as dating deliveries, organizing/cleaning out the freezer and walk-in refrigerator, etc.
- Facilities
- Chore Assistant: 8am – 9am every morning. Volunteer needed to assist/guide residents with cleaning tasks
- Home Skills Assistant: 4pm – 6pm every evening. Volunteer needed to teach clients to launder and iron clothes
- Toiletry Closet: Volunteers needed to organize our toiletry donation closet and put together toiletry kits for residents and individuals from the community.
- Resident Intake and Exiting: 9am – 2pm each day of the week. Volunteers needed to assist with resident intake and exiting processes, including laundering sheets, blankets, etc. to prepare for new residents coming in.
- Front Desk: 7am – 10pm each day of the week. Volunteers needed to monitor the front desk, answer phones, greet residents and visitors and assist with other small administrative tasks.
- Transportation: On-Call. Volunteers with a truck needed to transport items to the county dump, Goodwill and The Lutheran Mission.
